Future Argyle man Ken Maloy was also at that match at Highbury (and Jimmy Bloomfield played for the home side). Ken told me when I met him in 2011 that he often wondered had the crash not happened what it would have been like to see those Busby Babes against the Spurs 1961 double winners. Some game I would think!Princerock":17fooaym said:My memory has never forgotten these five players
Roger Byrne
Eddie Colman
Duncan Edwards
Tommy Taylor
Bobby Charlton
I watched them on Feb 1st 1958....days later four of them were dead.
Ok I've seen players that were probably better then some in that list.....Stanley Matthews...Dennis Law...George Best...Gordon Banks... Peter Shilton the list could go on.
But as an 18 year old I suddenly realized that life was not guaranteed.
But those five Man U players were etched into my memory for a long time and one still is.

Arsenal 4.....J Kelsey...S Charlton...D Evans...G Ward...J Fotheringham...D Bowen...V Groves...D Tapscott (1)...D Herd (1)...J Bloomfield (2)...G Nutt.
Man U 5.....H Gregg...B Faulks...R Byrne...E Colman...M Jones...D Edwards (1)...K Morgan...B Charlton (1)...T Taylor (2)...D Viollet (1)...A Scanlon.
My one disappointment...My mum cleared out my bedroom whilst I was away doing national service and my match programme disappeared in the clear out....priceless.
