The teams coming down donāt get their parachute payments up front but they do have this seasonās Ā£100 million pound plus Premier League earnings to set themselves up for an immediate return to the Prem. The only benefit they have at the start of their first Championship season is the knowledge that the parachute money will come in to balance the books if they fail. Leicester wont be getting theirs, it will go into the EFL solidarity fund As will that of Leeds or Southamptonās should either win the play offs.
Same applies to teams going up. They donāt get the Premier League millions up front upon promotion. When Argyle win promotion to the Prem they wonāt immediately have millions to build a PL squad but they will be able to set budgets in the knowledge that the money will come in over the season.
Oxford coming up would be a brilliant. Leeds going up to get another big team out of the league even though all 4 of those teams in the playoffs are big teams I get that. Don't think there is much choice from the premiership. Looks dead set to be the 3 current teams which isn't a bad thing. Arguably smaller clubs than Leicester and Leeds anyway! Portsmouth and Derby may fit right back in to the championship though.

I think some fans have forgotten that those teams around us at the bottom were obviously not that good either. An awful lot can happen during the close season. It will be tough but to say that the three promoted sides are strong and likely to do well is merely an assumption.

Unless it has changed recently it was always the case that if parachute payments werenāt needed it went back to be split amongst the PL. Apologies if it has changed. Always stunk that they grabbed more money.
As it stands, the teams coming down are the ones that went up. Unfortunately for the rest of us, it's showing how big the gap has got and we're seeing the casting of the die that will shape the game for years.
Ipswich have upset it but of the 3 relegated last season, only one might not get back up. If Burnley and the others dominate the Championship next season, we'll be seeing the start of Prem 2.

I think Portsmouth have got a lot of catching up to do. They've spent the last decade or so as one of the bigger fish in their pond, but that will absolutely not be the case in the Championship. Survival will be a good season for them.
Derby will probably be OK-ish - I can't see any of the playoff teams getting beyond the bottom six.

I, m guessing that Bolton will survive the play offs especially after their previous Wembley experience!!. Very good manager, good players and seem to be settled financially now. Three sizable clubs coming up with very good attendance figures and history. Millwall and Cardiff may struggle next year along with Blackburn minus Smzodic(something like that!) and probably ourselves. Definitely need experience in the dugout next season and a bloody striker!!. Keep the faith!! Coygs!!.

One of the concerns the EFL has on parachute payments is that the Premier League dictate the split of the solidarity money and that the relegated clubs receive their parachute money from that pot of cash BEFORE the remainder is split amongst the EFL clubs.
Clubs that are promoted back to the Prem do not get any remaining parachute money and clubs relegated to the EFL after just one season only get PP's for two seasons. Either of these scenarios means that the EFL solidarity pot is larger in those years affected.
Letās face it, we need Oxford to come up. Them or Peterbough would be operating at a similar level to us. Bolton I think also will struggle, if they do. Agreed that any of the three promoted from League one, will be bottom 6 teams
