On the sunny side of the street
I remember getting the magazine from the shop and then meticulously copying out the basic code to make it run something or other.
That’s my memory of the ZX spectrum type out pages of codes collected over a number of weeks/months just play the most basic of games.
I remember one of them really took months of magazines and whole nights of typing only for the program not to run, my cousin deleted the code to free up space the following weeks mag highlighted a typo and for the program to run had to change a full stop for a comma. 🤬
My favourite game was Daily Thompsons decathlon.

My first was an Acorn Electron 1983. 32kb Ram. Absolute beast….like kicking a radiator. It came with no games. BUT as mentioned above, you could buy game code books and magazines which, if you spent your entire childhood typing out, would provide you with an absolute festival of zero fun.

My friend has a bedroom dedicated to retro gaming. I go over there every couple of months for nostalgia and drinks. We always play Chuckie Egg on his spectrum.

But end up getting hammered and can never get past level 7 lololololol.
