All the clubs have to do is a clause in the players contract that their wages drop if they get relegated. If the clubs are too short sighted to do that then that’s their problem.

Player contracts are assets. To write off such assets upon relegation would be financial suicide. They might still even have transfer fee instalments to pay. Not many transfer fees are paid up front.

Again , that’s down to the club to sign players that would accept that condition.
The biggest issue in the game is players wages and the sooner that is sorted the better.

Most teams do have clauses where a player can leave if a suitable bid comes in if they’re relegated and a drop in wages clause
