Can win their second title of season if they get at least a point today against Portsmouth

They need to get out of this tiny pond.
I know what you are saying in one sense, but the academy teams also often play against Cat 1 and Cat 2 teams. We run smaller squads and that means players often play up a year or two and are tested that way too. The FA youth cup was interesting this year with Swindon making the quarters where they lost to Bristol City , after beating United and Sunderland etc en route. Argyle pipped Swindon to the league. Brickfields should pave the way to become Cat 2. Millwall and Bristol City (both Cat 2) made the semis with the final between Man City & Leeds.
There will be under 16s involved today at Portsmouth.

We played Swindon recently and hammered them but it was a totally different team to the one we narrowly drew with earlier in the season, probably because they have put their older players out on loan.

I know Exeter think the standard of youth league we both play in is rubbish, and their policy is to try and play their teams one age group up, and then put them out on loan when they get to 17/18. It seems to work well for them. Ollie Watkins now in the Premier League, Josh Key in the Championship, Joel Randell and Jack Sparkes at the top of League 1 were all playing competitive men's football for Weston Super Mare, Bideford and Tiverton as teenagers, rather than walkover games against the Forest Green youth team.

We obviously have a different approach. I hope it is the right one. My instinct is that it would be better to have the young players getting earlier exposure to competitive adult games than picking up trophies like this one. We won it two seasons ago, but none of the players involved have broken through and very few are even still on our books.

Only 3 subs

11' Early change for Argyle Seb Campbell on for Joe Hatch, who has had to limp off.

2-2 at HT
Even at the break. Seb Campbell's first two goals for the Under-18s have twice brought the Greens level.

still 2-2 our Pasty eating fan is at the game TATSUKI

54' Finn's cross on the right, deflected in the centre, trickles goalwards...was it over the line? It was very, very close, but the officials say it did not cross. 2-2

70' Campbell so close again. A clip over the goalkeeper looked destined for the net, but it hit the post, rolled across the goal-line, then was cleared. 2-2

77' Argyle corner partly cleared. Finn returns with an excellent ball in, which finds Burch. He catches his shot well, and it is well saved by Smith. 2-2

84' A rare foray forward for Portsmouth, but some great chances. First May then Bosaka with shots that Argyle block and deflect away. 2-2

90' No-one deserves that more than Kian Burch today. It was a free-kick on the left, swung into the middle, and he powered home the header. 3-2
