First time I’ve seen them In Plymouth. Recognised their squawk first, looked across to Charles Cross Church and there they were.

I saw a picture something like this about a month ago and there was a message saying can you spot the 2 blue parakeets in amongst all the green ones, and i think in your picture i see 2 blue parakeets so it maybe the same group.

They seem to be colonising the UK! Personally I love the splash of colour they bring even though they are buggering up the natural order of things.

I see them fly past my house next to central park virtually every early evening. Absolute pleasure.

They may look and sound nice, but they are an invasive species and harmful to our native birds and to crops.
A shame, but there you have it.

Meh, there are plenty of non-native birds in this country. You don't see people in Dawlish moaning about their black swans. Even pheasants, which are pretty much everywhere (especially where I live) are non-native birds.

There's a lot at Elfordleigh Golf Club as well, quite a site when they 'swarm' or whatever it is parakeets do.

The most awesome sight I've ever seen apart from a massive murmurisation at King's Sedgemoor Drain when I was pike fishing one late June evening was about 10,000 flying foxes in the air at Port Douglas in Oz. I honestly thought I was seeing things.

Parakeets are great to see and watch them building and maintaining their nests but an absoloute nightmare to live near. They just never shut up.

Invasive species perhaps, but I doubt they are as disruptive as some introduced ferals in Oz. Some colonial clown introduced rabbits and foxes ... and more recently cane toads. Some indigenous people include Europeans in that list.

When you go into the Hawaiian Islands, the eco questioning is way way more time consuming than the political/travelling barriers.
