How do you transport the ball from defence to attack Oldage?
The old trusted lump up field? Clearly not something we are designed to do when the centre forwards of choice aren't natural headers of the ball, or built to hold the ball up with a 6'4" centre back climbing all over them.
Short passes and movement - this is the preferred option, but on a bumpy pitch in poor conditions, against a team willing to press high up the field its clearly very dangerous.
Or you can dribble, if you are able to beat a man, or draw players to you, you create gaps for others to exploit.
In Mayor we have someone who does the latter, how many other players in League 2 have that ability? From what i've seen very few. If the end product was perfect he'd be playing Championship football somewhere closer to home.
Any player who is able to create gaps or draw players out of position in a team that wants to play pass and move is like absolutely vital. These are the players who are most guilty of giving the ball away as they are the ones you are asking to take risks. I'm sure Mayor could stand in the centre circle and pick out easy passes all day long, but we would then lack creativity - you cant have it all!
