Echoing that Emu.
I remember still the ”amusing shock” one Tuesday evening of him playing up front & not his accustomed full-back position.

RIP John Sillett. Not that many games for Argyle but more made his name in managing Coventry to defeat Spurs in a FA Cup Final. The flying header to score in that game by his player Houchen sticks firmly in my memory. JS got a bum departure from the Coventry owner in the end.

RIP one of those proper old football guys from an era when they didn't get millions for tripping over a wayward grass stalk!

Didn't he have a brother (Peter?) who also played?

Yes, you are right, Pogleswoody. I recall Peter playing for Southampton, and before that I think he was with Chelsea.

R.I.P. John. I was exiled in Coventry in 1987 and managed to get a Cup Final ticket. His celebrations after the game still raise a smile.
