There are, obviously, circumstances to why we have found ourselves in this position: sendings-off; we’ve had injuries; suspensions; penalty-kicks. I’m making excuses – yes, I am – but those are the facts.

I don’t take much notice of printed interviews. An interview is done, then all the questions and waffle is taken out and it becomes a list of quotes which have no context whatsoever.
