With the amount of time since planning was granted, to not even have a main contractor signed up at this stage is a massive error. Simple as that.

Give it a rest mate. Its painful sometimes.

Brent et all know what they are doing and the call for the new roof is spot on.

Contractor sign up is probably a gimme once the lawyers have finished. A final price contract on something like this is balsy to say the least.

Give a bit credit or dont say anything but stop the constant moaning ffs

ā€œBrent et all know what they are doingā€

If you want to debate specifics that Iā€™ve said, Iā€™m happy to. But when you make ambiguous comments like that it doesnā€™t really strengthen your argument. For the record I do think the build will happen....eventually. But our Chairmans record in ā€˜developmentā€™ to date is shocking. The longer it drags on without final contracts signed means price variables arenā€™t nailed down, and corner cutting and spec reducing highly likely.

Work on the development has started. Contractors are on site.

He's like the Iraqi foreign minister is old grumpy.

The club announced months ago an extra million was being put in to the grandstand and then a rehashed story by the 'Erald comes out and he uses that as evidence the "rumours" being spread by the naysayers of an extra million pounds being needed are true - er well yes of course they are.

Maybe he should get down to Home Park and see if anything has started yet? He may believe it then.

Oh thereā€™s certainly a lot of Iraqi Information Minister going on Daz. :)

ā€œEverything is fine. Donā€™t worry. Everything is fineā€. Lol

The elephant in the room - and itā€™s a big one - is that a main contract still hasnā€™t been signed. If it were then the actual building could be underway. But it isnā€™t.

Preparatory work in advance of the main rebuild of the grandstand has been going on for some time.

Brent said: ā€œThere are workers on site and they are ripping out the inside of the buildings.

ā€œThere is asbestos in some so you obviously need to be very careful in how you dispose of that

Before knocking down buildings you have to re-route services, and thatā€™s fibre optics and copper telephone wires, and so on and so forth.

ā€œAll of that work has been happening very quietly and buildings will be knocked down over the next few days.ā€

While the groundworks are being completed, the construction of modular buildings which will form some of the new facilities is already under way at a factory.

Brent said: ā€œAs we speak we have the new club shop and ticket office and a toilet block being built off site and those will be dropped in.

ā€œIt was a 12-week order time and we ordered about a month ago so those are going to arrive fairly shortly.

Others, with much more knowledge than I, have already commented the contract not being signed is standard practice at this stage, building work has already started.. I'm struggling to see what the issue here is?

That's all we are going to get except for plastic seats in the whole of the Mayflower with some fans having to pay more to sit in the same place because they are going to call it premium seating, a lot of peopl are going to be disappointed

He (and 'they') never do, it's their M.O.

They come on here, giving it the large one, usually fed by a few 'experts' (I use that word very loosely) and then shy away when it turns out to be (again) wrong.

Just like the few footballing experts, that constantly said we'd be relegated, Adams was a joke, etc etc. Where are they now? Mainly on FaceBook talking about PASOTI as if it were some sort of 'opposing' fans website.

Standard practice is to have a contract unsigned, but to have workers working under the conditions of that unsigned contract? Really? :)

There may well be people milling around. But the prospect of people dealing with large scale asbestos removal on an industrial scale under no contractual jurisdiction is at best unlikely, and at worst potentially recklessly negligent.

I would say illegal, so why on earth do you think that would be the case?

Getting what wrong? It has been stated publicly that the contract hasnā€™t yet been signed? It is a statement of fact!

Again, not quite:

ā€œWe signed a contract for the enabling works but the main contract is due to be signed in the middle of June.

Again, failing to see what your issue is?

I thought it was reported that an enabling contract was in place to allow the preparatory work to commence. Asbestos removal, one would assume, being part of that.

I've worked under an enabling contract before. Carrying out separately tasked, rate priced and scoped packages of work, as and when required under the agreed conditions of the enabler. No need for a separate contract for every job.

The build (whenever it starts) is the separate contract. The terms and conditions and scope of that could possibly be held, pending results and anything forthcoming from the prep work. Work that couldn't be carried out until the Season (including possible playoffs) had finally been concluded. Which it seems is what's happening.

At least it does to me !

Thatā€™s where the Devil is in the detail innit. Is it just outbuildings being ripped out, or Main Grandstand?

What would be more telling would be the reasons for the main contract not being signed yet. But Iā€™m not sure JB stretches that far in the transparency dept.

Read the interview Grumps. It's all in there. You're looking for things that aren't there.
