Incredible from England, they have turned Test cricket on its head.
All the Tests have been brilliant this summer, it's a pity it's such a long wait until the next one.

Whatever the result another truly outstanding test match.

The positive mindset, clearly isn't just a sound-byte or gimmick, the way Lees batted yesterday, you'd think he had been told you place is safe, go and enjoy yourself, he gave us a superb start, that we looked like we had squandered, but Root was different class. Even the Indian commentators grudgingly accepting he was the best player of spin in the world.
Its going to be a tough morning, India will almost have home advantage i suspect in terms of support, if Root gets through the first 30 minutes, my confidence will grow.

What on earth will this England team do when they bat first?
They definitely seem to be at their best when chasing a total in the 4th innings.
I must say as well that that the pitch has held up very well and hardly deteriorated over 5 days.

The change in mindset in the England team over the summer is astonishing. Yes, I think our batting line-up is suspect and we're overly reliant on Root / Stokes / Bairstow (who is in the form of his life at the moment), but this "give us a total and we'll chase it down" mentality is, like I said, astonishing. On current form, if England was batting 4th, anything under 400 would be within their reach if they had ... I was going to say 5 sessions, but I reckon they could do that comfortably in 4 sessions of play.

The question is, though, is whether they could shut out a team and play for a draw over 4/5 sessions if a run chase was beyond them.

I wonder what sort of total they'd consider beyond them now. I feel like they'd happily go after 500.

Siraj 0-98 after 15 overs. What a pummelling that is!

Just looking at Bairstow's batting over the last couple of weeks: 136, 172, 71no, 106, 112no... and then there was the 113 against the Aussies in January and 140 against the Windies in March: that's one hellva year for him.
