I suspect that the Aussies will prove to be a rather tougher proposition than Ireland. I'd like to think we
could do unto them as we are doing unto Ireland but somehow I doubt it.

Should be one hell of an ashes series though

Not sure how much we're learning here, but then again last time we played Ireland at Lord's we got bowled out for 85 in the first innings didn't we?

I cannot wait for the Ashes, it's going to be brilliant. Come on England.

My concern is Stokes fitness. His bowling is crucial in this current England side.

This was always going to be a gentle warm up before the main event.
Tongue might have played himself at least level with Wood and a place in the attack should Robinson, Anderson or Broad get injured.
Bairstow had some time behind the stumps although I prefer Foakes with Bairstow opening instead of Crawley.

Ireland hanging in there a 112 run partnership (so far) by Adair (71 no) and McBrine (37no) has brought the deficit down to 78 runs.

Stokes has a serious problem with his knee. That said he has to play. My view is that he plays as captain and batsman.
Harshly, I would leave out Harry Brook play Stokes at 5 and call Woakes into the team as a bowling all rounder.
The other option would be to leave Crawley out and ask Brooks to open.

Stokes is the first non wicket keeper captain to win a test match without batting or bowling.
