One of the teenagers just said “dad, as it is the International break, who do you think is the best parent-child footballing family?”

We think either the Schmeichels ( Peter and Kasper) or the Thurams (Lilian and his two sons, Marcus and Khephren - both who play for France).

So who do you think are the best parent-child combos? There have been quite a few, but our measurement is where the parent and child are both very good (ie world class) not just good (ie both professionals). If you want you could broaden this out to other sports (for instance the Bothams both played international sports, mind you different sports).

Apart from the very best e.g. Summerfields , McCormicks etc I'd go for Cesare & Paolo Maldini. Schmeichels great though, as you say.

There’s Daniel Maldini now as well, so quite the family. I would probably have them top for footballing families.

Johan and Jordi Cruff
Mazinho and Thiago/Rafinha
Periko and Xabi Alonso
Haalands

For an Argyle link there's Ian Wright and his two sons Shaun and Bradley.
Shaun's son D'Margio plays for Stoke so three generations and counting.

Maldini are best for me, a mention for Enrico/Federico Chiesa and Danny/Daley Blind.
