My birthday falls on an FA Cup weekend (05/12/1992) and according to GoS we weren't in the competition at the time of my birth BUT the two closest are a postponed game vs. Exeter (waterlogged pitch) and a 3-2 home win against Peterborough.

Argyle drew 0-0 at Home Park to West Ham United the day before I was born....when was that.....I'm not telling you.

This thread seems to be almost exclusively for the over 50s. A 3-1 defeat at Port Vale in front of 14,000 in old division 2 25th Feb 1956 was the closest for me.

You don’t have to, Prince Rock unless you are well over 100 years old.
GoS suggests you were born on 26th March 1939.

The game closest to my DOB was a 2-1 away defeat to Cardiff in the final game of 62-63 season, interestingly in our final home game of that season we beat Chelsea 2-1.

Thursday April 26th 1951.

We beat Leyton Orient 2 - 1 away.

Goalscorers were Harold Dobbie and Maurice Tadman.

Wonder why we played on a Thursday?

All these threads reminiscing about times gone by during lock-down have led me to take the plunge and sign up to contribute on here!

The Argyle game the day before I was born was a thriller;

6th February 1988
Division 2
Argyle vs. Barnsley
Postponed - waterlogged pitch

(The re-arranged fixture wasn't much better, 0-0, albeit Tommy Tynan's 200th game in green)

No Argyle game as the season was done two weeks prior, but the 1986 FA Cup final was 5 days before I was born. If we're looking for a tenuous Argyle link, Bruce Grobbelaar and Peter Reid (as well as Jim Beglin) played in the game.

Two days after I was born, England played Mexico in a friendly, the Argyle link coming with Peter Shilton in goal.

I was born two days before Argyle won 2-1 away to Bolton, December 1967, with nearly 10,000 in attendance ... there were roughly the same number of people at the match :funny:
