Over the years many of us have felt that Argyle were not hard-nosed enough with getting good value for players we were selling. I have always felt that at times Southampton have been quite the opposite, getting fees that are almost outlandish. Today's news that they have loaned Csrlos Alcaraz to Juventus for a £3M loan fee, with an agreement to buy for £40M (rising to 45M) is a case in point. He cost £12.3M and has been at St Mary's for marginally over a year. Apart from a 15% sell-on, they stand to make a phenomenal return on their investment. He was pretty impressive against Argyle but £40-45M? Im not sure he is even worth as worth much.as two-thirds of that.
