Interesting stats actually.

Look at league two though, I mean of COURSE Wrexham were going to be top but how are Forest Green second ? They spent half of what we did. How weird.

Never had a high regard for football agents/intermediaries and whatever it is that they do. (Maybe I just don’t understand their role)
Always seems to conjure up an image of Eric Hall

Clubs foolishly pay these sums to get what they deem the best of the best players
Sometimes it is money well spent other times it is throwing good money after bad
Bizarre

If there was a more graphic word than "obscene" to convey the state of football then I'd like to hear it.
Part of me would like nothing more than the likes of Leeds, Leicester & Southampton to not go up and then suffer the ramifications.
As for Chelsea.........

If I worked for HMRC I'd be over Eastbourne Borough with a fine tooth comb. 🫥

Agents are not the sole preserve of sport. I knew people in the IT industry that used agents for placements and contractual issues (I didn’t, too common 😝 and I couldn’t handle signing my life away to someone else). Agents in this sense are personal and different to standard employment agencies. While they take a significant percentage, it’s all about growing the size of the pie rather than your portion of it.

I would assume segments like Finance and Justice would have similar operators.

I don't understand why football clubs should pay agents, when agents are employed by the players.

Surely the players should fund their agents, not the football clubs.

Just a condition of purchase I assume. You’re covering the player’s obligation. A similar thing would be Argyle asking £10M for Whittaker plus 20% (or whatever it is) for our obligation to Swansea. It’s a deal rather than a simple off the shelf transaction.

Plus agents sometimes work on behalf of clubs as well.

Agent fees across all industries is common. Transacting a 'normal' everyday role costs my company around 20%. Once they've signed on the dotted line, they get their wonga.

Less than 5% of the top team in the division, but still more than 500% of the previous year....welcome to The Championship!
