Hahaha and Accrington Stanley always start a season on top of the table.
It's not like that was near the start of the season. End of February 2008 we were 5th. Three points behind West Brom who we faced in the game after. There was only 12 games to go, but from there it all went downhill.

After 34 games the odds were fair on us making the play offs.
Admittedly we ballsed it up.

Bristol City have reached the top flight before. Early 1900s and late 70s

They haven't made it since being top on 34 games in 2008. Don't worry yourself about it, there were other teams also who ballsed it up in those remaining 12 games.

On a side note, interestingly every club that avoided relegation from that division that year apart from Argyle and Bristol City have played in the Premier League at some point.

Football has always been about money.
It was just a matter of who got it.
Up until tha mid sixties who ever owned the club also owned the players.
After the maximum wage was abolished players ,agents and big business have taken stupidity to a whole new level.
NO player is worth the money these days BUT if somebody offers you mega---take his hand off and keep running.
What would any of the top teams of today be like without billionaire owners throwing money away.
They would be like our beloved Argyle no more no less.
Stupid is as Stupid does. :stout:

If the money didn't go to the players, who would get it? I'd rather the stars of the show benefitted the most rather than the owners.

As I’m todays paper Jose, the manager of one of the biggest clubs in world football Manchester United is saying it’s unfair because they can’t conpete with some clubs financially

The bloke speaks utter tripe sometimes.

Try telling that to the other 16 premier league clubs that aren’t anywhere near his expenditures.

Shame he only spent a small £90m on a striker and £94m on a midfielder.

Must be difficult for him.
