I think Australia are meant to be interested too but I can see that not happening due to TV timings etc (or that will be the reason given anyway).

A 48 team World Cup makes it pretty limiting in terms of how many countries could host a World Cup without recklessly spending money on stadiums that won't get used after the tournament like in Qatar or South Africa.

We can all agree that the World Cup doesn't need to be that big.

The 2026 one will have a big carbon footprint, teams will be expected to fly between Vancouver and Guadalajara.

I suspect/expect that there will be an almighty pushback against this stupid idea by UEFA -did it actually get voted on or was it another Blatter…oops Infantino brain fart?
