If he had the chance for more money a bigger playing budget with more chance of success and to be closer to his home town he would likely take it - really what you are basing your belief that he would not is beyond me - he is a professional football manager not a lifelong Argyle fan
Did you read what the man himself said? You are the one who has introduced increased money, budgets and proximity of his hometown into the piece. None of these considerations are in his statement.

Think about the mountain he has to move here - injuries, suspensions and the coming transfer window where's there's next to nothing in the kitty.

Having to call in favours from contacts to get us a CB and a striker.

No guarantees of safety for us, could be L1 again next season.
Schuey definitely isn't the kind of guy to jump ship because we've got a few injuries and because we need a couple of players in the next window. That's part and parcel of the job, whatever the club is.

What you've not considered is the fact that this is his team, not some bunch of footballers cobbled together by someone else and their philosophies. We're all agreed he'll go at the right time. I just don't think this is the right time and I don't think he does either. He's a young humble manager with plenty of years left in the job who admits he's got a lot of learning to do. He'll know he can do that here without much pressure and his stock will only rise the better he gets and the further he takes us. But other clubs won't be as lenient and he'll know that too. To leave and then become just another member of the merry go round would be a huge risk when he's settled and knows he can develop himself at Argyle. He's smarter than that. I think. I hope.

Somewhere else someone pointed out the other managers who had been poached when they were supposedly embedded in our DNA. Our current situation is completely different to any of the below

Luggy - left us in League 2 for Saints - a premier league team. That sort of opportunity comes up for lower league managers once in a life time. He had to take it.

Holloway - he knew that the ship was sinking. By all accounts our ship is floating very nicely at the moment

Lowe - do me a favour. He left everything but his body and his mouth in the NW. He came to raise his profile and get a job nearer to home. Luckily his legacy has been good to us.

I think the culture of a club would be the main thing above transfer budget and salary, and also the hardest thing to achieve. Anyone can throw money at a situation, but having a clear direction, strategy and everyone singing from the same hymnsheet is what got clubs like Brighton, Brentford and Luton into the Premier League.
I agree with that, there are lots of mediocre clubs in the championship with chairmen throwing money at them to no avail. The Argyle set up does have that "special" element that means something big really might happen over the next season or two, especially if we get more investment. Lets hope that is how Schuey sees it...

Really don't see Schuey leaving, he literally said last week that he needs more experience at this level. Its not worth moving his whole family back north for potentially a short gig which could tarnish his already impressive coaching/manager CV. He has a wonderfully supportive board and a fantastic fan base behind him and potentially some new share holders joining the club in the distance future, increasing funds ahead of a new season (in the championship we we hope). I am not worried at all.

I think IF Schuey gets offered it, he WILL go.

Money DOES talk and the Coates have loads and loads of it.
Surprised that you think that? Schuey has never given any indication that he is driven by financial rewards.By his own admission he is young and has his whole future ahead of him. Why move when he has not proved anything to himself yet in the Championship?

There seems to be something wrong with Stoke - it doesn't mean he wouldn't go. It could make it an interesting challenge. I think it may be the result of 'too much money' and the effect that that can have on attitude and the ability to make good decisions. Compare them with Newcastle who have a lot and still have a level head. At the end of the day I wonder if it is all about doing things right - Argyle are doing it right at the moment. There's a lot to be said for that. Just my tuppence worth.

Part of the reason that Schuey has done so well is the backroom support and the backroom data. Schuey hasn't got to where he is today by himself. He is supported by the club and is integral within a wider team. Would he get this at Stoke ... He may get loads of money but looking at their record, he would know that he will only be there for 1-2 years max and much less if the results are not forthcoming. If the back-office data is lacking then he will fail. Big choice ... stay with us for another season and get a safe apprenticeship in football management or go out into the big bad world and start eating the dogs before they eat you ...

Probably because football is notoriously fickle and if someone offered a 3 year contract on double or triple your wages when in six months time your stock might have fallen. Also if he succeeds at Stoke who will have a significantly larger budget he will have proved he can manage a ā€œbigā€ club and as such will be more attractive to even bigger clubs such as Everton for instance.

No manager is for life. Heā€™s young, ambitious and Stoke would give him the resources to see if he really can make it to another level. It doesnā€™t mean he doesnā€™t love Argyle and will feel an enormous sense of gratitude for his start here. I will be gutted as I love him, but him leaving at some point is inevitable folks. I noted the guy Davies who turned down the Swansea job who is at Spurs. Young, upwardly mobile, of the right mould. Iā€™m sure we will have some fingers in other pies like that. This clearly has some legs
