Glad nobody left but not sure we have improved our starting eleven. I think our squad is better but I would have liked to sign a player that better than we already have. However good luck to our January signings.
Perhaps we could have signed on a better quality of player to help us push on ,if In my opinion we didn’t take on 2 new coaches who to date have not improved us at all.there salary could have been put to a better contract offer for signing on a further recruitment.

How long does it take to implement new coaching ideas, particularly when games are coming thick and fast? It's bizarre that people think that everything can be changed in a few days on the training field, without any pain experienced whilst switching systems. Have to give the new coaches time.

Equally bizarre are the comments of a few posters who have almost written off Critchlow and Lewis already. Would you appreciate some time getting used to a new job before being harshly judged? I'm sure they would too.

Everything about the club is rightly geared to the long term and building strong foundations. That's why we're investing in infrastructure and staff behind the scenes.

You don't employ coaches for results over a few games, it's the long-term improvement in players and the culture of the club you're investing in.

Hopefully we improved the starting eleven but I agree not enough (to reach the play offs). Still a couple of missing pieces in the jigsaw.

All in all probably a successful transfer window with holding onto all our current squad. Sessegnon looks like he could make an impact, Critchlow is a useful rotation player, and Lewis is one to develop.

At this moment in time the foundation was is situ and there was no better time to invest in quality players , rather than coaches who have not improved us, not much forward thinking. (in my opinion).

Schumacher's foundation wasn't in situ though, as he didn't have his own men. And there's no way to tell that coaches haven't improved us, or won't improve us further.

I don't think Keith Downing or Mark Hughes are on the sort of wages that would put a major dent in the playing budget anyway.

You talk about investing. Coaches, with their input into the growing infrastructure of the club , are often a much better investment than most players.

I am surprised that ,to the best of my knowledge, there were no enquiries for any of our players.

Good news about Steven Sessegnon- hopefully he lives up to the hype, which has been generated by his signing. It’s also pleasing that the club have kept hold of our better quality players.

Overall though, I think it’s been a disappointing window which will be best remembered for the unfortunate Georgie Kelly saga.

I feel we have a pool of 15-16 very good players- but beyond this are left struggling for quality and consistency, within our squad.

You say that but I’m not sure there’s really much of a drop off from first to second choice in any position, other than maybe in goal and at left wing back, which is good news.

I guess the argument is whether the first XI are of a high enough level to begin with and that comes down to what your judging them against (I.e playoffs or top half finish).

I like this squad, it’s the first time in a while since we’ve been in a position where if one individual is missing we might not struggle without them. Last year it was where would we be without Jephcott’s goals. The year before Mayor. The Adams era it was Lameiras… Carey.. etc. Pre then it was Reuben Reid. I think we’re just a solid all around team now.
