In addition, getting to the front of the queue without pre-opening your bag or removing all metal items from your pocket in anticipation of the search, will require you to immediately go to the back of the queue

Rhys Griffiths looked like an absolutely astonishingly good player in the 15 or so minutes of the substitute appearance that constituted his Argyle debut (before he went off injured).
Remember that well, against Northampton. Thought we had found a real nugget!

Although his scoring rate just about matched that of Johnny Williams and he would have been the first name of my teamsheet I still think that David Norris didn't score enough goals.
He's the one player I felt really improved enormously under Pulis, leading to a huge transfer fee

I really liked the idea of merging the three Devon clubs and playing as Devon Diamonds in the state of the art Clotted Cream Bowl to be built near Ashburton. The stadium featured ground breaking stands in which all seats offered a view of the pitch and could be occupied by fans of any height. Club colours were to be proper green, red and yellow hoops with an away strip of proper yellow, red and green hoops. Surely an idea whose time will come again!

I hope not.

Mine is that I very rarely have a problem with refereeing (bar the very occasional absolute howler), and barely ever know or care who the referee is in any given match.
Agreed - why this obsession with who the ref is - if they perform well they wont even be noticed. On a similar issue, why the fascination on Match of the Day with taking the knee and frequently showing the managers chewing gum on the sidelines in what are supposed to be the bleedin highlights ! Dont get me started on the coverage (lack of) by our local BBC and ITV

For me, never rated Mickey Evans during his last spell with us. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed watching his battles with centre backs, his hold up play and understand why opposition fans hated him. He was also more skilful and intelligent than simply a "target man" but there was no end product, no goals and not even assists. Goals didn't seem come from his hold up play and it was like his battle with the defenders was a separate/irrelevant contest.

Still any limitations he had didn't cost us promotion and I wouldn't change a thing about that promotion to the Championship.
I agree he wasnt great in his second spell - a much larger version of the young Evans who could run with the ball. Got penalised for a foul in most aerial challenges with defenders.

Yes! (Was just about to post the same!).
Put in what I wanted when I was a kid; a sort of Wembley Way; a perspex tunnel on the seabed so that the crowd can walk undersea to the ground!! Now that would be unique in football!
Police might like that too; excellent for kettling!! ;)
Nah Argyle wouldn't clean the perspex and ot would become like Bobby's garden !!😁

I never got the euphoria over Barry Jones. I saw him as a crowd pleaser who flattered to deceive. In this day and age of recorded "assists" I think he would have been found wanting. And our results during his time here probably back that view.

Strange how we alk see it so differently. I thought when he returned that it was clear to see how he had been coached at a higher level. I thought he was a vastly better player than when he left.

Very interesting thread, great idea. Based on this thread, an unpopular opinion would be, if you didn't get Trigger then you don't get football.
A team is like a jigsaw puzzle and all pieces need to be in the right place for it to be complete. Trigger was immense for us especially in Sturrocks team and we would not have won the league without him. The beauty of that team, was that they played far better than the sum of their parts.
Trigger bullied defenders, helped us get up the pitch, won free kicks in dangerous areas which was crucial for a set piece team and never let the defender get a clear header.
How often do you see a CB knock a header into the CDM and allowing them to build an attack? That didn't happen with Trigger. I would take him any day of the week over an out and out goalscorer like Rueben Reid who was a much better at putting the ball in the net but (unpopular opinion) but not such a strong team mate, often deciding when to battle and when not.

No - you were right - Adams was a battler but couldnt pass to save his life. Once Lee Hodges took his place in centre midfield we improved greatly.

His passes always seemed to go backwards, although sometimes that's not a bad thing. Bit like Jordan Henderson
