Any idea why Galloway's contract is so short? Was it a Jose Baxter scenario of injuries, or Galloway thinking that "I don't want to be tied down here for too long?"

Whilst l see where people are coming from in terms of his contract let’s just see how his body reacts.

Currently Argyle aren’t risking him playing two games a week. That says there must be concerns still.

There is no doubt about his playing ability. However, last few seasons his body has let him down. We just had the fourth game of the season. It’s still only August. Let’s just see how it pans out as it’s far too early and keep our fingers cross he stays fit.

As the weather changes and the rigours of playing a number of games happens it might be unfortunate that come November his body won’t stand up to those rigours.

However, the guy is class.

Short term contract until January, but suppose if he stays fit and does well we will try and extend the contract

Galloway is 25 and has hardly played any games during his career due to a multitude of injury problems. In some respects, he is still a novice. It would be foolish for any club to offer Galloway a long term deal until it is proven that he can play a whole season without serious injury.

Personally, I think Argyle need to sign another centre back even if Galloway extends his deal here. Tomlinson is a youth player who Lowe wants to send out on loan and Galloway’s fitness cannot be relied on. Three games into the season and already Argyle are short of central defensive options.

The team has good attacking options but still look light at the back to me. I‘d rather see a new defender sign than another striker.

Galloway is a class player despite his lack of league games. Too early to test him for a longer term contract, but wish him well for future games

Maybe lm missing something but we have James Bolton to come back. That gives you 5 CB’s from 3 positions. I think surely that’s enough to cover injury and suspensions??

Interesting to note that if he hadn’t failed a medical Galloway could have been lining up for Shrewsbury today.
Exactly this.

I know people will say that if he plays well then he might leave Argyle for another (higher) club in January for free (as he would be out of contract)

But I would hope he would repay the faith that Lowe and Co. have shown in him and his past injuries.

Tbh I would like to think if things are going well for him he would want to stay
He's had a lot of injuries and missed a lot of football better to keep things going then risking it all for money and lack of game time I reckon at his age.
Somehow I think he maybe needs a couple of solid seasons playing week in week out before he moves upwards and onwards as his ability deserves

Galloway looks comfortable at the back and is far too good for this level. Hope he can stay fit as he could prove a major asset this season!

In view of the concern about Galloway’s fitness, I have looked at his profile on Google and Wikipedia and I can’t find reference to any particular injuries that he has suffered.
Does anyone know what injuries have held up his career?

I think it’s far to early to determine whether Galloway is capable of playing at a higher level or not- I’ll be convinced once I have seen him perform for a period of time (not the few appearances he has made so far). The first thing Galloway needs to do is prove that he is good enough to play in League One. The jury is still out as far as I am concerned. As I said earlier, he is still very much a novice despite being 25 years old so no one can say for sure what he is like over a season of competitive action.
