It may have passed me by, but do Grimsby have a huge history of crowd trouble and hooliganism, enough to constitute a 'weapons-grade' search regime?

Didn't clarify in the statement either that female stewards searched females (and kids)? That is the norm isn't it? :think:

They do have a history of hooliganism as do most clubs. There was pretty bad trouble when they were relegated from the league if I remember correctly, and they are deemed to have One of most active hooligan groups in the lower leagues. The issue is however is that Stevenage do not have a history of football related violence, in fact I cannot recall hearing about a single incident involving their fans, so the stewarding sounds to have been way to over zealous on this occasion.
