For me, its Borough Market. Either the Market Porter or the Rake. Both right next to the station, heaps of food options, decent beers and a great general atmosphere.

The Barrowboy & Banker is also worth a look and just around the corner, there are better in my view.

As a SE London based green I'd always recommend the Lord Clyde in the Borough area. It shows all the games and is off the beaten track enough that it's never too busy.

Been to the Old Thameside Inn a couple times next to borough market. Nice sat down on the river.

We are on the supporters coach, but assuming we get to the Den with plenty of time we'll get the train to London Bridge. Tempted to go to the George for old times sake, but will probably go to Borough Market.

The Rake and Market Porter are great if you want to be close to the station.

Lord Clyde is good too. If you want another excellent hidden away option, The Royal Oak is lovely. Although if you don't like Harveys beer, don't bother.

Nice old pub with a debtors prison in the basement, I used to work there and lived above about 25 years ago.

The Shipwrights on Tooley Street is good - and as close to the station as you can get.

Market Porter is the traditional option - but a victim of its own success these days, overrun by beards. I’d avoid.

Lord Clyde is a good call as is the Royal Oak - but you’re nearer Borough Tube than LB by then.

The Rake for me, to start with at least.
