The part of this that I really struggle with is the idea that these most expensive seats in the house are low down, completely uncovered and open to everything that Plymouth’s moisture-laden weather has to throw down. It just seems completely the wrong set up. I would have expected those seats, without padding obviously, to be the cheap seats not the most expensive.

Likewise. Surely they should be in the upper mayflower?

The views where I am are by far the best in the ground, but I agree they should be in the grandstand which also have superb views and you are kept dry by the roof.

We're faced with the conudrum of having supporters sticking with the club through thick and thin now coming up against the cost of success, in both the demand for 'corporate/upscale' hospitality and the demand from the general fanbase for increasing the expenditure on players, infrastructure, management structure etc.

I do have considerable empathy for those affected by this, and Argyle definitely need to ensure they are providing suitable alternative seating for those impacted, but also if we have more opportunities to bring additional revenues into the club, then we surely have to take them.

Don't forget there's now 100s of seats that cannot be used anymore because Sky have highlighted where they are within the ground and can't be used when Sky are in town!

I can remember Parky saying that in a fan forum of a year or more ago.

He said something like 'if we do manage to stay in the Championship next season, get used to changing times and losing certain seats as Sky are very prescriptive in their contract and they get the pound of flesh' or something very similar.

I can remember people on here many moons ago about paying extra for tickets on the day and bemoaning the fact that we couldn't turn up at 2:45 and walk in anymore.

They call it progress peeps! It may not feel like it on occasions.

Hmmm having a seat taken by cameras for a % of games that you know about is slightly different to being told that your seat that you’ve sat in for a few years can be sold for more money so you need to move - unless you pay £1000’s more.

VAT is irrecoverable by all businesses as it is either business entertainment (ie you invite customers or staff to attend) or its for personal use. Only exception could be if your business relates to watching football.

as you know ian my specialist subject (for once!) This is a massive issue with shirt sponsors as they get say 20 seats as part of their package. HMRC disallow the proportion of VAT attributable to the seats.

Argyle are naughty advertising the price VAT ex knowing this (as they do know!)

I was merely telling people that there are other ways that our rise up the leagues are having repercussions mate.

It's not good but I'm not sure what can be done about it.

Can you not remember the chap on here who was incandescent a few years ago because he was unable to buy his normal ST because of it. No different to you really.

It certainly over a 100 that have been lost to Sky.
Didn't think it would be that many tbh, especially when our televised games against Leeds and Leicester were near enough our biggest attendances of the season.
I thought all it most of our games this season were sold out,but looking at the attendances they vary quite a bit for some reason.

Thoroughout the season more seats have been made available- probably in the grandstand.

I know Millwall and Rotherham didn’t sell out their allocation.

Of course it is.

The club want to sell my seats for more money, so off you trot. Whereas a seat being needed for reasons beyond the clubs control is completely different.
