I don't think we should be looking at signing players for the sake of signing players.

We have a decent squad, the only position we are slightly weak in is LB although I still think McHugh can cut it, and let's remember we got 2 loan LB's in last season, Reckord was generally awful while Parsons was injury prone and a poor marker.

So excluding LB, our defence is fine, we have 3 good CB's available to us plus a recall on Richards, Mellor is a very good RB for this level. We perhaps even have too many midfielders now. On the wings we have players who can play there but we rarely use a formation involving wingers. Upfront we off course have Reid and suitable back up in Morgan & Smalley.

How does 4-3-3 not involve wingers?

Not really out and out wingers though.

Traditionally & technically, a winger's position (although very flexible) is on the halfway line or just ahead it. We play with wide players who's position tends to be in the channel between the 18 yard line and the touchline, I think they are more 'forwards' than wingers.
