...and invested the money in the squad. We have a startling lack of any depth of quality, and some of our players have been absolutely run into the ground whilst at the same time MW has been a disinterested shadow of his former self.

When we've needed him to step up most, he's been at best anonymous and at worst a selfish player more interested in getting to 20 goals than assisting others and getting points on the board.

When he was good for us he was incredible, but he's been found out and hasn't stepped up when we've needed him most.

No.
We’d of been down weeks ago with Rotherham if we had.
Imagine the meltdown on here if that had happened

HOWEVER
He‘s proving to be a total luxury player when we’re set up to park the bus as we did today. Would of been better playing someone who could run and chase for 90mins if he gets so little attacking passes to feet that he can’t influence the game.

Give him the ball in space in the final third and he‘s the only player we have that can make something out of very little.
Expect blood and thunder effort and closing down and he’s the last man you’d want alongside you in the trenches

Thanks, Captain Obvious.
But it is hindsight. Literally nobody on here was advocating selling our best player in January. In fact, this site was clutching the rosary beads when that Brentford rumour started, so panicked were we by the mere thought of him leaving.

Where was your post in January saying: 'We should sell Whittaker now because his form is going to desert him under our new manager, who by the way will be a disaster.'

There isn't enough bandwidth on the planet to support the number of negative emojis a post like that would have received.

Whittaker's form has nosedived because:

1. We replaced Finn Azaz with Alfie Devine (lol).
2. We made a total pig's ear of appointing the Scouse Snake's replacement.
3. Our January transfer business was so epically bad that we may as well not bother trying to stay in this division because we clearly aren't even close to being able to compete financially.

Unless you said this 3 months ago, which I doubt, then your post is meaningless

I get the point of the post. But since that Lazio bid came in, of the games we have won or drawn, he has been pivotal or the match winner in. I think we'd be in even more of a mess
