Simon Silwood has been jailed for eight weeks at Birmingham Magistrates' Court for racially abusing midfielder Romaine Sawyers on social media. He has also been fined £500.

According to the article Silwood was caught because he was witnessed creating the text. Otherwise people like him remain anonymous. If I made an abusive phone call it can be tracked and traced after the event. Can anyone more knowledgable than me explain why this can’t be made to happen by platform providers of social media? Assuming of course that laws were passed to make this a legal requirement.
