It must be difficult for the players to see a teammate when there's just a split second to look up.

There’s also the crowd to be taken into account. As Autumn and winter approach more and more people will be wearing jackets, anoraks etc many of which will be a dark colour. I think we need either a brighter green or has been suggested use the second strip for midweek games.

Exactly @PL2 3DQ. And in a game of ridiculously fine margins where speed of thought is everything, even a 5-10% delay is massive.

There has to be a reason why our home midweek record is so relatively poor across several managers and sets of players, and this seems like it could be one.

Speaking before their defeat by Notts County on 28 February, 41-year-old Adams said there had been issues with Plymouth's home colours.

"We have changed the kit about a bit - had white shorts and white socks because of the reason that the kit is too dark," he told BBC Radio Devon.

"It blends in with the seating and it blends in with the grass, and that's the reason we have changed it for a number of home games this season."

Of course it is, but no one seems to listen.

You'd think with all the science in today's game, someone would do some research on recognition time wouldn't you.

A brighter green home shirt isn't possible, as marketing decisions 20 years ago are irreversible and football clubs can't slightly change the shades of their shirts each season (y)

I have been saying we should wear white at home for years, for both day and night matches.
Green is difficult enough as it is, but this shade (that seems to have been dredged up from the Tamar) is way too dark.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, green is one of the problem colours for those that suffer from colour blindness.
And I'm sorry to upset all you traditionalists, but what have we ever achieved wearing green?
White is not only very visible, but also very smart imo (we can still have green/black trim).

White shorts would really help although for last night Crewe were wearing white shorts.

Just wear our current away kit (predominantly all white) for evening games home and away.

Assuming there's no clash with the opposition, surely it really is that simple? Has to be worth a try over a few matches. JFDI.

Isn't there a limit to how many times you can wear an away kit at home? Could be wrong.

Knibbsworth. All this nonsense re shirts. Did we play better on Saturday? That would have been 1.1 also if the keeper hadn't dropped an easy catch. Against a team who lost 6.0 last night which puts our attacking efforts into perspective.

How about we all in the crowd turn up in bright coloured tops then? Argyle should win every Tuesday

Balham - No-one is saying that changing the kit colour would suddenly mean that we become unbeatable but it is SURELY an adverse factor (I believe quite a significant one) and one club could take action to mitigate. Last season Man Utd changed the colour of their pitch surround at Old Trafford away from red because it was felt to be adversely affecting visibility of their players to each other. It’s not just an Argyle thing.

Lots of stats about Tuesday night games and dark green shirts, but what about on winter Saturdays when it's dark by 4 o'clock?
