Has anyone seen a good or bad tribute band recently?

Tribute bands appear to be a growing trend. Some sound and look like the original act while others concentrate on getting the sound right rather than focus on look-a-like.

Tavistock Wharf is a haven for tribute bands, I've recently seen three there.

Bootleg Blondie - the singer (called Debbie Harris, her real name!) was very good, sounding and looking like Debbie Harry. The guitarist was not so good.

A Foreigner's Journey - a tribute to the songs of Foreigner and Journey, very good although the singers voice suited Journey more so.

Moving Pictures - a Rush tribute band who were phenomenal, Rush songs are difficult to play but they pulled it off especially the female drummer.

Saw Sack Sabbath last autumn at The Junction on Mutley Plain.
A very good tribute act to the early Ozzy Osbourne years and sounded very authentic.
Ironically it was their farewell tour as they were soon to be disbanded.

The Counterfeit Stones are brilliant. They don't take themselves too seriously and everyone there has a great time! It's almost like watching the real thing as they go through several costume changes to reflect the different times 60s, 70s etc. and it's all done with a tongue in cheek humour. Well worth catching them if they're in your area

I've seen a few in my time. Bon Jovi Experience are very very good and sound incredibly similar to the original. The Jam'd were good, especially the bass player who was outstanding. T Rextasy are good, but the front man dresses, looks, and even lives his everyday life like he is Marc Bolan

I fondly remember a friend from Goa and he's an amazing musician, in many ways. For whatever reason when he lived there it was a battle of the best cover band's rivalry! Westerner stuff. He is so talented, it surprised me he wasn't more interested in working on original stuff.

I studied under Bolans sound engineer. Marc died during an album that was being recorded. This was probably about 25 years after his death. I heard some tales/ stories! All positive. ❤️

About five years ago at my local beer festival they had a local Pink Floyd tribute band. (Sadly they split up just afterwards).
I remember thinking how good the sound was, especially from the keyboard player hiding in the back corner. From outside the room it could have been a PF album being played. It took me half an hour to realise that the keyboard player at the back was actually controlling the lightshow - they didn't have a keyboard player! Two guitarists with effects pedals, a bassist a drummer and a singer produced a damn good effect.

I really love Pink Floyd. All of it, from Syd onwards.
