My Late father-in law had just joined Brentford in that 1959/ 60 season.
They had an absolutely legendary partnership at the time (Towers & Francis - Francis got both here) a la Warboys / Bannister and Mariner/ Rafferty. 50 goals between them that season alone. It was hard for him to break into the forward line especially at 18 !
Even when he did break in the weight of expectation after those two before him , as a youngster, was crippling at times he said. He played at Argyle once or twice and ended up being an acquaintance of Frank Lord in South Africa.
The catchphrase "pass it to the Lord" was his abiding memory of Frank Lord.

My list is York, Bury, Colchester, Grimsby, Chesterfield, Halifax, Southend, Shrewsbury, Accrington*, Wrexham, Newport, Stockport, Torquay, Southport, Rochdale, Bradford PA, Notts Co, Chester, Workington, Hartlepool, Gateshead, ,Exeter, Carlisle, Barrow, Darlington, Mansfield, Doncaster, Tranmere, Aldershot*

Technically, it may be 28 because that iteration of Aldershot pulled out without completing their fixtures in 91/92. It maybe 27 because Accrington failed to complete their fixtures in 61/62. But in both cases other clubs were formed and got back via National League.

What was his name?

George Summers. (Wikipedia have got him as still alive at 84). Sadly, like a lot of players of that era he got Parkinsons & Alzeihmers before passing away. Great bloke . Great sense of humour. A lot of British players moved there to play (even Charlton, Roger Hunt , Gordon Banks etc) He was there by 23 and never returned. He won the league in 1967 with Port Elizabeth City, before a career ending knee injury ( no ACL ops back then !)
