Sitting here I must admit after a few glasses of wine, listening to Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynrd. Fantastic music and surely the greatest guitar riff ever. Unbelievable even after all these years for the song and me to be honest. Can't think of a better song to have playing as everyone walks out of my passing service, well at least hopefully the wife, and maybe Balham Green!!.

Eagles - Hotel California

The guitar rift towards the end of the song gives me goosebumps

Told my family that song will be played at my funeral

Guitar riff or guitar solo?

For solo Free Bird is definitely one of the best, for me the best is Long Time by Boston.

For riff I think Night Train by Guns n Roses.

I reckon any ACDC song would cover good riffs and solos.

Enjoy all those but for me Albatross - Fleetwood Mac. Reminds me of Plymouth Sound and all the ships through history and the Good Ship Mayflower:sick::love:

Riff or solo that's the question... Riffs for me can't beat Quo be it bouncing at the Cornwall Coliseum or grebo'ing in Woods, yep it's not compicated but solid riffs, add Skynrd, ZZ, AC/DC the list goes on...Solo's Jimmy Hendrix/Page, May, Eric, Santana, Moore, Young, Gibbons, Walsh, Beck and the list goes on but personally for my era loved the sound Slash ripped out of that guitar made it sing like Hendrix.

Another thread with a million possible answers, but I'm going for 'Song for Suzie' by Heads Hands and Feet.
A beautiful bit of guitar playing by Albert Lee. He was (and maybe still is) playing pubs in Herts until fairly recently, in fact one of my sons saw him at The Horns in Watford a few years back.

Fast Eddie Clarke used to play the local pubs where I used to live, brilliant blues guitarist and a top guy, as a Motorhead maniac was a bit of a shock to see him play the blues, but still rates as one of my top lifetime experiences.
