Except that Chris Errington has said that Evans is the striker that Cleverley has been talking about. We'll soon find out by the shirt number he's given.
He might well be the player that we had 2 or 3 bids rejected for, but I’d be both surprised and dissappointed if he was our no.9 replacement. From what I’ve seen of him he’s a great option for the left and a real upgrade on Dale, not up front.

I do agree with you, but to have two strikers in the team setup, surely we need four strikers in the squad. Adding Evans will give us three. Maybe we won't spend big on another one.

according to papers we have also bid for Kabia. I think this and Evans would make sense, Kabia is still a bit raw and a slight gamble but there is no doubt he is exciting and he also scored lots last year, he could make the step up and be class. Evans is more trusted and an ever present through his career, he averages a goal every 3/4 games which is a good record. both can play left wing or up front which is where we are lacking so it gives us a bit more versatility in both positions if anyone picks up an injury. I think these could be the 2 we recruit and potentially another forward on loan.

I would be very happy with this, but I wonder if we have the budget left to be able to get Kabia.

I doubt we are in for both Evans and Kabia .If we are it won't be at £1m+- even the Grimsby fans think he's over priced at that figure . Surprised also re Orient as Kanu would seem a better prospect as local based . Would prefer Mellon .
Prefer Mellon as a player? Or simply because of the budget?

Both . Mellon is 22 and but for the injury he suffered he'd most likely have scored 15+ goals last season .From the clips I've seen he's more like Tolaj .

I like Kabia , and we missed out on him when he was at Truro but he's nearly 26 and he's not Tolaj .He could rip it up in L1 but .... and £1m+ is over the top . Reading paid £700k for Lisbie from Colchester and he is 4 years younger .

Will Evans and Ronan Curtis on the wing and Kabia and Pepple in the middle.

What's not to like?

I think our front 4 against Stockport will be Will Evans and Ronan Curtis on the wings with Pepple and Mellon up front.

And honestly I think that is an awesome front 4 and gets me salivating a little... all 4 of those players are a nightmare to play against in lots of ways and all have that relentless energy and physicality about them....
