I notice that the wife of the great cricketer Graham Thorpe announced today that he had taken his own life. Depression increases in some older people, and this site has a few oldies on board. Depression is increasing among younger people too.
I have suffered with depression on and off for most of my adult life. If you are in a moment where things feel hopeless, that the world would be a better place without you, that you simply cannot cope…. PLEASE seek help via your GP, the Samaritans or even the nearest A&E. Depression is just an illness like any other.
Everyone has something to offer, there can be enjoyable times ahead even if your current feeling is dark.

Good advice Belfast. Also around the country, each NHS Trust has a Talking Therapies service. You can make a self referral - you don't need to go through your GP (although you can)
Just Google your County with Talking Therapies, that'll get you to the link.

A therapist will arrange a telephone appointment with you, talk through your concerns, and then refer you to appropriate support.

Also for anyone having mental health concerns because of their working environment, there's NHS help for that too, through this service.

We share this every Christmas but obviously MH can impact all year round.

There’s thousands of members on this site, plus many more guests in their thousands also. We may not always agree on topics/players etc, but we’re all here because we’re a family of Greens.

Don’t suffer in silence, reach out to one of the above in the image , or even post a thread! There’s plenty of people on here who I’m sure will offer support, even if it’s just in the form of a chat!

The time(s) of ‘blokes being blokes’ is now thankfully falling away.

We had a Mental Health forum on Pasoti a few years ago which enabled posters to talk and get things off their chest, even anonymously.

It may be worth using this thread to kick-start that conversation again, with this thread eventually moving to the Pogleswoody forum.

I stress that it's just a sounding board and if required professional help would need to be sought or use the websites mentioned on this thread.

Well said Belfast. My daughter who is autistic was sexually assaulted and it was recorded but the police said they couldn't take it any further because the recording was muted. She now has PTSD. The CPS are a waste of space but I can't praise victims support enough. Like Belfast said, there is no shame in reaching out for help.

Compassionate advice, Belfast. Very well said.

I can recommend Man Down, a men’s mental health support and talking group which started in Cornwall, which is available at many venues throughout the county. The organisation has recently started meetings in Plymouth and Torquay, with more locations in Devon opening soon.
