Sly and the Family Stone great band and music. "If you want me to stay" one of my favourites. Sly Stone, someone who set the template for others to take inspiration from, most definitely.

Both and 20 Golden Greats. He was most definitely a little Mozart. That's such sad news. I admit to being a bit of a fan of the Beach Boys and Wilson. He really was a troubled genius.
Not sure whether to play 'Smile' or 'Pet Sounds' tonight. Maybe both....
Ah pants, what sad news. A genius indeed and a member of my first favourite band!Brian Wilson, Beach Boy, musical genius, 82 RIP.
One of the best love songs ever written. Carl sings like an angel on that one.My parents used to play their Beach Boys albums every Sunday
"God Only Knows" is on my playlist
RIP Brian a truly musical genius
Agreed. I was lucky enough to see him and his band (The Wondermints?) at Glastonbury 2005. So glad I did.Ow. That's major. Close to Dylan and McCartney level, of that era, and there are precious few left now.
I was lucky enough to see the actual Beach Boys twice: Wembley Stadium in 1976, and Yankee Stadium in 1991 (just as an afterthought to a Yankees game, it seemed to us gobsmacked Brits who knew nothing about it in advance).Agreed. I was lucky enough to see him and his band (The Wondermints?) at Glastonbury 2005. So glad I did.
That performance is now on BBC4 tonight in a change of schedule. Starts at 9pm. Hope you see this message!Agreed. I was lucky enough to see him and his band (The Wondermints?) at Glastonbury 2005. So glad I did.
