Yep, West Brom was utterly miserable from start to finish. We did go and win at Boro the following Saturday, though, which proves that footballers can still deliver even if they've lost faith in their manager (which the senior players certainly had done by then).

We'll have to agree to disagree on whether our current players still have faith in Rooney. What I saw last week was a group that has decided this gaffer isn't for them, but other views are available.
I wouldn’t say that he hasn’t lost the dressing room the way I did if I didn’t know it to be true from someone involved. Just look at everything coming out of the club. Very different to what happened under Foster.

I think we won at Boro because they had a meltdown similar to the ones we have had over the last couple of games, more to do with them than us, they just sat back and let us do what we wanted. Something weird happened with that team that day.

You're right. We were on the front foot that game and Middlesbrough didn't get to grips with our midfield. Gyabi was a revelation and pushed forward from the back and they didn't tackle, just do what we are doing now, ie allow the opposition to pass through them.

Almost every away ground I go to the away stand seems to be the opposite end of the stadium to the main access point (invariably we are asked to walk right around the ground). I dont see why the away section should not be what is now zoo corner.

This would be quite expensive to achieve given the facilities and segregation that would be needed under the stand. However, it is probably the sensible long term solution.

Alternatively, we should consider putting them diagonally opposite in the filled in corner between the Grandstand and DE. The away team would get nowhere near their fans in the build up to the game.

No, my point is that if football on tv in the evenings does not effect live attendances why should football on tv on a saturday afternoon?
The concern isn’t that it would affect Argyle’s attendance but that it would hurt lower down the pyramid.
The casual fan who goes to Parkway or Torquay may decide to stay in and watch Liverpool etc.

I dont think that is true, but I am saying we should try it for a season and see rather than just continue the blackout because we have always had it.

Somehow, I do not think any proposed close proximity of young away fans to their Argyle counterparts is perhaps the best idea. Separation creates less opportunity for aggravation to develop. The Club does not want to pay for the need for greater of police presence.

I'm not sure if it's been reported by anyone, but I think it was ND who said that the players 'adore' Wayne Rooney, it might have been SH but I can remember both of them nodding in unison when it was said.
Been a busy week so I’m only half-way through this thread, but this is great to hear. I was starting to have my doubts.

The only trouble is that is a big gamble if the investment falls through!

I wouldn't say so myself. We will save money overall if we manage to stay in the Championship - that's the gamble really.

If Baidoo signs it will be down to having Rooney as the manager.

Really hope Baidoo doesn't join us based on what I've seen of him to be honest.

Do tell? Would be interested to hear, particularly as it sounded like we were close to paying a lot of money for him.

Quick look at TransferMarkt looks like he's got 5 goals and 3 assists in 13 Europa League / Europe League qualifying games.

Says playing as a striker though - I had thought he was an attacking midfielder who could moonlight as a striker, or as a deeper lying midfielder.

When we were looking at him in the summer, his value went up as we showed an interest but did we keep hold of the money we were prepared to pay for him or did we use that for Al Hajj? Also, I think the money went up to spoil our bid because they needed him for Europe and we went in too late.

I heard a whisper he’s definitely coming although not my normal source. 🤞
