The foreign aspect was the smallest, least and very last suggested potential factor in the less than universal initial delight at Miron's arrival. What's more it was clearly prefaced by the words "for a very small minority".

Far from being ridiculous to dare even suggest that could possibly be a factor... it'd be ridiculous for anyone to kid themselves that it wasn't a factor for that "very small minority" of narrow minded fans.

It wasn't the main factor, not by a long way, but please, lets not pretend small minded xenophobic thinking, present in every dark little corner of our society is absent from the dark little corners of Argyle's fanbase and by extension this site.

To ridicule even the merest thought of such a thing is mypoic. Of course will have been a factor for a small few.

We digress... more specifically a tiny causational observation was needlessly amplified by that response to it.
As one of the main people against his appointment on here I absolutely felt the need to defend my position.

By posting what you did without directing it at anyone or with evidence, but just throwing it out there it tars everyone who was against his appointment with that xenophobic brush whether you meant to or not.

He stated he didn’t want to come back, so even if we did stay no I doubt he would’ve come back and then there would be some sort of legal action what would cost money and time
Hence I said "not that we had a choice" 😉

The stated point was not that we made a mistake (see above).

The stated point was that having Miron Muslic as your manager is worth more than £600k in your bank.

No it didn't.

It was prefaced and couched entirely in keeping with it's 'very small minority' status.

You read and reacted to something I did not write. Consequently I have a right of reply to something you did write.

I'll leave it there.

Yes, it does as I can tell you I feel that it tarred me with it as I was vocally against him.
Whether a fan of direct/ passing football or uk/ foreign managers, perhaps there is one thing which we can agree on ? Betting on the ' outsider' might work in the world of investment, but it is a very risky approach to coach/ management appointments - with no indication of a favourable outcome apart from the one outlyer- tony waiters. Shuey himself was Lowe's deputy, so I'm not clear that this continuity appointment is comparable to the vast majority of external appointments we have made over the years.

I do think we should follow the 'data' and although we say we do - history over the years shows that we havent been doing so......to our cost.

The history of Argyles successful managers over the years generally indicates a man of 40- 50, with a track record of success, but ironically who often comes to Argyle after a disappointment ( often after being sacked) and with a point to prove and a successful style of play to implement ( and there are many examples of this type over the years from dave smith to sturrock to muslic)

Simon hallett has deliberately elected to go against the data on successful coach/ managerial appointments with his appointments- and generally with very very poor results .

Win ratios in senior football :
Ian foster ( galway utd and dundalk) 36%
Tom Cleverley 36.05 %
Wayne rooney - none available
Miron muslic 42.6 %
Derek Adam's 38.3 %
Ryan lowe 39. 35 %
Shuey 48.92 %
( figures from wikipedia)

Rooney's career win percentage is about 25%.

Weird innit, a winter break, imagine England having a month off football over the festive period 🤯

Only 34 league games a season of course, and only one domestic knockout cup. If Schalke do go up automatically they'll only play 36 first-team fixtures this season, whereas we'll play well over 50.

There's an alternative world where the Football League is made up of four divisions of 18 instead of three divisions of 24. The players are less knackered, every game is more consequential....it'll never happen because gate receipts are too important but it's an interesting thought experiment.

It can't be much fun to watch. Top of the league, but only 22 goals scored in 18 games! The three clubs in the relegation places have all scored more.

Only ten goals conceded though which is very impressive.
Their massive fan base won’t care if he gets them back into Bundesliga at the first attempt after all of their recent problems.
