Guys don't expect much going on until a firm decision has been made regarding the start date for the new season. The chairman doesn't want new players in until this is known, keeping the money in the bank....

So it looks like it will be sept 12,

When will the decision be announced, this week ?, next week ?, next month ?.

Sounds like itā€™s set to be announced this Friday.

Could be a coincidence but there seems to have been quite a few signings announced across L1 and L2 today, so Iā€™m clubs probably know the date it just hasnā€™t been made official.

Seen some national league clubs back in pre season training today as well, not just those in the playoffs. Football below the championship slowly starting to wake up again.

The EFL are meeting on Friday 24th July to agree the start date for the new season. A 12th September start will mean 11 mid-week League 1 games apparently. There will have to be some compromises in the Cup competitions to fit it all in.

Remove the group stage of the JPT (or whatever itā€™s called now). That straightaway takes two midweek games away.

Just remove the whole waste of time competition and there's 3 evenings.

I wouldn't be surprised if 2020/2021 is the first season without FA cup replays and I'm sure enough PL pressure will keep it that way too.

slippery slope - PL get what they've wanted for ages and lower leagues lose out of income from replays

Probably, better chance, for lower league teams, of winning a penalty shootout after extra time rather than taking the Premier League team to their home ground for a replay.

But it would be a shame for them to miss out on what could be a club saving payday (assuming crowds are back by then, of course ...) .

See Yates who was at Swindon last season has been confirmed as a Blackpool player.

Wonder if Hardie becomes available as result?

Swindon have lost two key strikers this summer now.

If the Premier League teams don't want replays they can always state before the original tie that they won't play in a replay, if the game is drawn they forfeit the replay and the other team goes through.

If the Premier League teams don't want replays it would make more sense if they could only be drawn at home against another Premier team. So: Liverpool vs Argyle would be played at HP. Liverpool vs Everton at Anfield.

Why would we want that? Less money for Argyle on 18,000 the 60,000

All money to go to the home side. Why should we play Liverpool at Anfield with no prospect of bringing them back to HP?

Not a great example... :)
