They've been in that new ground just as long too...
Again, they returned 'home' at the start of the NLS Championship season which was the season being referred to in my reply to Oldage.

Lots was happening for them that season all at once, hence my observation that they probably came up a tad too soon, no chance to consolidate all the changes.

I know my non-league 😉

And "plastic" is more than a bit mean Tom without proper context.

Their current set-up may well seem all very new and disoriented at the moment, but that's because they were exiled from Cornwall for many many years.

If Argyle had lost use of Home Park and for the best part of a decade had to play in Dorset or Hampshire... a visiting neutral like yourself at Bolitho Parc, when visiting Home Park upon our return, would think HP seemed a bit 'plastic'.

But a whole heap of slack should be given them due to what they've survived.

Highlights show Roberts ( in particular) & Isaaka having a strong influence on the game.
Funny that the commentator gives Isaaka the credit for Robert's run and fierce shot from 25 yards though.
P.S. Braintree's striker makes Akinfenwe look small.

Roberts does show well... the commentator lost the ability to read numbers.

The big fella is John Akinde who had a respectable lower(mainly) EFL career.

Truro played statues for the last goal, they can't afford to waste any points but seem incapable of holding on.

I can absolutely see why people are talking about re calls for our loans with our injury crisis

My personal take on it is that these loans should be ' ring fenced' - with Robert's apparently playing well it would be a shame to re call him ....while he is learning progressing and developing his confidence. This is what these loans are all about in my opinion.

I do agree with what ian Holloway said about the development of young players, when managing Argyle . It was something like : ' until a young players have played100 senior games you dont know what type of player you have got'

Isaac vassell served to illustrate holloways point in 2014, AFTER his release from Argyle - playing 79 games for Truro city ( 22 goals) which led to moves to Luton Town and then a 1 million plus move to harry Redknapp birmingham city

Playing a bit - part in the squad - which is what issaka and Robert's have been thus far - is no way to develop a players potential

I think the way forward is long loan spells (1 or 2 seasons) such as adam randells ( 42 games) and will jenkins davies ( 67 games) enjoyed at Torquay. Perhaps a sister club. Interestingly fleetwood have 1 in the irish league, and I was reading recently that schalke now have 4 'sister' clubs as they are termed....

Our sister club is Argyle Women ! And some would say we can't afford that
Do wonder why the Argyle Green bloke isn't wanting to take our youth into his two Irish teams

The 67 games that Will Jenkins Davies played on loan at Torquay provided absolutely zero to Argyle in terms of their investment in him! I agree long loans can be the way forward, but they also can provide a slow exit from the club for those deemed to not have enough to make the grade. People contine to bang on about the undoubted success of Randell's Torquay loan, but have we had any sort of success with a loan since? Randell's seems to be the exception to the norm, with several young players having been loaned out since, but returning months later having stagnated on someone else's bench.

But would Jenkins-Davies have made it if we had kept him? It was probably what was needed on both sides, to show what level he was at and help him find a club where he now plays regularly at that level.

Good point

And you never know, of course.

A judgement call has to be made on a player at a particular time. That doesnt mean, of course, that they wont make it in the game at a later stage ( perhaps once theyve developed physically, and/ or ironed out any issues with their technique and / or mindset). That's happened a few times at Argyle, I think.

Anybody remember john brimacombe ? A fine player I thought. Released by Argyle as an apprentice he was later re- signed by the club from the local non league circuit, I believe ...making his first team debut in division 1 ( now the championship) at age 27....and going on to around 100 appearances, in total for Argyle

Does anybody on the site watch bath city ? I'd be interested to know how Will is doing, for them, this season ....
