You really must get over this obsession with time wasting. There was a bit tonight but nothing excessive until the the 85th minute. In injury time the 'keeper pushed his luck a bit but it was nothing more than you'd see in any game at any level.

Comedy genius!

He also allowed 2m23s to take the penalty. Make them get on with it.

You only have to Google him to find a litany of other games he's ruined for supporters of other clubs with particular ire coming from the Watford local paper over his handling of a match and frequent references in newspapers and on forums as to how he has lost control of matches.
Teams like Cambridge (who I expected to be a little bit spoily already) will know exactly whose refereeing the game and when it's someone as hopelessly weak as the guy tonight, they'll take full advantage and turn the gamesmanship dial up to max.

Yep. As managers scout and research opposition teams they will also research referees and it worked for Cambridge and they controlled all the major decisions and momentum of the game.

Does anyone know if the refs are miked up to the linesman?. If so that would explain their behaviour after the 'goal' as they would have been discussing it. Linesman probably didn't realise Hardie had touched the ball. So it's a very simple explanation. No need for conspiracy theories!

OK so that's fine then, sorry for daring to think anything to the contrary...its just the way it is...sigh

This isn't an isolated episode for Sarginson, which is a key point. He was also the referee in charge of our 2017 home match against Leyton Orient (the ballboy incident) - the worst refereeing display I have ever seen in my entire life. He's also largely disliked by other fans throughout the EFL.

Referee's in the English game aren't held to any sort of standard. The more they're attacked, the more the FA rally behind them.

There's even a spoof Chris Sarginson Twitter account set up by Oldham fans with a video of him, set to Benny Hill music, spending 6 minutes trying to find one of their players to book.
Reminiscent of the interminable amount of time he took to sort out the fracas after 3 minutes.

It's not right that we should see the name of the ref in the days before the game and know, KNOW, that they will be the biggest talking point of the game.

His performance was summed up when the ball hit him, as said earlier, he should have got the game restarted within seconds, but he allowed the opposition players to take time out and get drinks on board, it's obvious that players have no respect and know the ref won't do anything about it, all teams know this so expect just about every game he is involved in to be like this. Every team wastes time at some point, the better refs start booking players when it gets excessive, this usually stops the worse of the problem,

As ‘up the line’ said after 3 minutes he totally lost the game with bizarre decisions.

It was all about him.

The tone was set early on. As others have said at no point did he have control.

An incident in the second half typified his performance. A clearance from Cambridge hit him which meant under current rules ball is returned to team with last possession. About 6 Cambridge players then run to the line and decide for themselves to have a drinks break. Pathetic.
