Spurs are going to spend €185 million on this week. Man City have already spent €120 million on 1 player. These 3 transfer fees are of a higher value than the total combined squad value for every club in EFL 1 (£287 million according to TransfrMarket). I can't be the only person who finds this so obscene? How on earth has this been allowed to happen and is there anything that can be done to stop it?

Spurs have taken Simon's idea of expanding non match day incomes and taken it to a new stratosphere with their spaceship of a stadium. They can do this because they have the income to allow them to do so. Sadly, these sort of transfer fee compensations inflate the market all the way down through the pyramid.

Back to the OP, these transfer figures have to be seen in the context of billionaire owners or businesses. In relative terms this would be no different to you or me buying Argyle for £10k, then spending £3k each year on top players. Without the new financial rules linking player spend to revenue, they would easily go a lot higher imo, certainly reaching US levels for top football and basketball players.

I don't really give a monkey's about the Premier League, who signs for who and how much. It's all obscene and it's basically nation's or massive financial global organizations running it all. Crack on, frankly i don't give a damn. Now League One is different, oh apart from corrupt Leicester of course. Ex Premiere League team, all part of their DNA.
