Upbeat pop from different eras, such as Dancing Queen-Abba, Galway Girl -Ed Sheeran, Walking on Sunshine-Katrina and the Waves, One more time - Daft Punk, Shiney Happy People-REM, etc.
What about?: Number 1 (whatever that is these days) at the moment, 10 years ago today, 20 years ago, 30 ... right back to the 50s/60s?
Obviously a bit of poetic licence as to what you play (no Macarthurs Park ??)
That could be a repeatable format as each home game is a couple of weeks apart so can be varied plus would throw up some great old tunes and some interesting oddments.
You could do a feature on the music in the programme too, commenting onwhat will be played plus what else was in the charts that week?
Either start from modern and work back or vicky verky??

Here you go ghostie:

Earliest I found = 1953

1953: I Believe: Frankie Laine.

1956: Why Do Fools Fall In love?: Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers

1961: Temptation: The Everley Brothers

1966: Sunny Afternoon: The Kinks

1971: Get It On: T Rex

1976: Forever & Ever (EP): Demis Roussos (This is ***** great for a football song!! )

1981: Ghost Town: The Specials

1986: Papa Don’t Preach: Madonna

1991: (Everything I Do) I Do For You: Bryan Adams

1996: Still Bryan Adams!! – no just kidding!

1996: Forever Love: Gary Barlow

2001: Another Chance: Roger Sanchez (great for an evening game!!)

2006: Smile: Lily Allen

2011: Louder: DJ Fresh ft. Sian Evans

2016: One Dance: Drake ft. Wizkid & Kyla

2021: Bad Habits: Ed Sheeran

The only real ‘dud’ in there is Gary Barlow. If you take the week after you get:

Wannabe: The Spice Girls.

1995: you get: Boom Boom Boom: The Outhere Brothers

1997: you get: D’You Know What I Mean?: Oasis

Think you could rotate the years so next home game would be: 1962, 72, 82, 92 etc. that way you get more variety and get to great years (in the 60’s etc)

I have always had a soft spot for Smooth by Santana and Knights of Cydonia by Muse. Both were played regularly pre-match in our climb to the Championship and occasionally since.

I think at least half of those are gash. Each to their own though.

How about Gimme Some Loving by The Spencer Davis Group, maybe looping the first couple of bars for a whole minute before the Hammond comes in?

Personally I am not too bothered what music is played as long as its varies each week and they don't persist with the same droll every week
THE OTHER ISSUE I HAVE IS I WISH SOMEONE WOULD UN STIK THE VOLUME CONTROL so the music can be played at a pleasant volume rather than blasted out

The volume for the pre-match music was turned down for the Middlesbrough game. 👍
