I remember Johnny Marquand being world champion in the latter (he owned a garage down Notter Bridge for many years after). I loved the noise and the smell on those Friday nights and, if Argyle were home as well on the Saturday, a great weekend was assured!!
I remember the Fleetwood Mac poster too (I think there was one of them outside the chippie next to The Cherry Tree pub). I was a bit too young for that though, would have been great to see Peter Green in his prime.

As an ex volunteer (for about 2 years) I can tell you that this WILL push the numbers right through the roof.
Great bunch of people work there for very meagre wages I can tell you. They really care what they do, and that shines through doesn't it?
Two RAAF Squadrons operated Sunderlands out of Mount Batten during the war. I was shown a painting in the Australian War Memorial Museum in Canberra showing a Sunderland near Mount Batten with a little bit of the city in the background. One of the staff asked me where I came from and pointed me towards it. It's a small world.
