AbsolutelyThe Sun & The Times have reported on this, (hardly darlings of a left of centre press,) so why ‘predictable’ The Guardian?
No need for that kind of petty myopia.
It’s an appalling situation that doesn’t need a political slant put on it.

I assume you don’t live in Bromley Town and you certainly wouldn’t be suited to being a resident of Sutton, Richmond or Kingston would you.It is 'petty myopia' in your eyes...granted.
The Times is one that Ed Davey would read when he is on a hobby horse. For sure! Pro-Europe and all!
The Argyle womens' story is a newsworthy, and a football interest story too, it's why the Sun ran with it.
I think it is disgraceful how the womens' team has been treated and all the good work and progress has just been destroyed. I don't think they'll get that back for a long time, sadly.
All those young Argyle fans they have been trying to garner will be feeling really sad at the news. The club handled it wrong but without knowing the full facts, they have had to make a business decision.
It is the mens' team that should always be the priority and even then we almost always seem to be cheese -paring.
I was also just pointing out that for some more 'left of centre leaning' publications they do like to rush into publishing these sort of stories and maybe investigate in case of any discrimination (If there is a case for it, which IMO there isn't) . It is just cold business. Just my opinion but...cue unlikes!
Yes. Shocking coming out of the club. Who knows just how bad the club's finances really are?!I assume you don’t live in Bromley Town and you certainly wouldn’t be suited to being a resident of Sutton, Richmond or Kingston would you.
So why say it's behind a paywall? That's alright I don't read it anymore. But thank you anyway.

Is it not Mr Hallett that had made the decision to throw away what was achieved without being able to outline anything to replace it? Does he give a toss about the fans? obvious not the players! Previously they said that the cost of the womens side was inconsequential … so is this not more a strategic move…?I understand this is true and this is absolutely a disgraceful act by Mr Berne. He should have had the guts to face the ladies who are now going be out of contract. I am sure that Mr Hallett would not have done this and I hope that that he has a severe word with Berne who in my eyes and I am sure nationwide has brought my club into disrepute.
A damn accountant who cannot see further than his profit/loss ledger.
Errr hate to mention it but isn't running a professional football club about staying in profit if at all possible. Obviously not enough return on the investment I, m guessing. At least in the men's game there is the potential of selling players for a couple of millions to balance the books once in a while. That outlet doesn't appear to be case for the ladies team unfortunately.
I'm pretty sure Marie would have told the players concerned in person before she left, that tawdry email sent by Berne was just to rubber stamp it.I wonder if the "plan" was to inform the players via the manager but Marie Hourihane walked when told about it so another method had to be used.
Still badly handled, though, and very sad after the positive season they've just had.
Ditto !I have waited a couple of days to enter this arena , to enable my brain to respond in a cool manner and not in fury. The women's team members have been dealt with in an appalling and dismissive way. This emanating from what is always represented as a "Community" club. I have supported Argyle since 1954, through good and bad times. This is the first time I have ever been ashamed of my club.
Actually very true, shows how old fashioned i am!!Where on earth did you get that idea? Naive in the extreme.
Football clubs are mostly playthings for rich people to waste money on, in order to show off / dodge tax (* delete as appropriate), with the goal of winning as much as possible regardless of the costs. The fact that ours is generally run differently changes none of that.
All in black with a flock of seagulls hair cut...you'll be back in fashion. Give it a year!Actually very true, shows how old fashioned i am!!
If it was just a "rubber stamp" to formalise what they already knew then why the outcry?I'm pretty sure Marie would have told the players concerned in person before she left, that tawdry email sent by Berne was just to rubber stamp it.
