It seems sometimes that people almost want to appprtion blame for our location, almost as if Plymouth Argyle's location is the fault of bad planning.

As I understand it, the origins of Plymouth predate the first days of Argyle by quite some margin.

Years ago any potential signing would have gone to a library or Smiths and picked up an atlas to get the gist of where they were going to be based. These days, I believe they have something called apps and Internet all capable of showing where something is, as well as an estimate of the distance and time required to get there. One site even has details and information on the city and surrounding areas. Amazing stuff really.

If that still proves problematic, I stand by my suggestion of relocating the Club / Franchise to Taunton, a bit like MK Dons. Much closer to everywhere, an area on the up yet still West enough to maintain the jovial rural accent that is part of the clubs DNA.

Good to see a thread with many positive posts on this subject! I think Argyle are beginning to provide a nicer place for players to work, and getting their act together in terms of selling the club and the city to prospective signings.

For far too long many people have assumed that players won't come here. We've accepted far too easily that we are in some remote outpost where no one would want to live. Yes, it's a problem in recruitment, but we've made too little an effort to overcome it. People with other specialist skills move to Plymouth to work, so why shouldn't footballers? You won't get all of them, some just won't consider being further than 30 miles from their city of birth, or more than 20 mins from Mum's Sunday lunch. Not everyone, however, wants or needs to live close to every family member, not all have closed minds as to working in a different part of the country.

As long as we provide the best possible working environment, and do everything possible to sell our many good points to prospective recruits, it won't be rejected nearly so often. At long last I get the impression that we are starting to do just that.
