Oseni next for a call up?

I'm always amused when I read 'Celtic target' in these articles when the plan is to lift a players profile. There does seem to be a lack of understanding regarding Celtic.
Celtic have plenty cash and rightly criticised for not spending it in the summer and blowing their Champions League spot.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Celtic sign a £8M+ striker this summer.
In terms of playing style, Celtic always play the ball on the deck, quick interchanges, plenty width. So Bim previously being linked for me was also way of the mark. Bim's future will be elsewhere.

Then there's Tolly. Now that's a different story!! He would fit perfectly into a Celtic team 👌

I hoping OO will be around next season to raise his profile further. Top man and improving.💚

I think were we to lose Oseni (I dont think we will) then we'll need to move back to Nathan Blisset level of transfers, given we couldnt hold onto someone that costed £60k. What was it ? £15k? :)

We paid more then £60K for him

It's a bit weird that Celtic keep being mentioned in relation to our strikers.
Yeah it is, as I said earlier in the thread I posted it more around the potential that he might get called up but it IS weird. The link to championship teams is just a throwaway line, or feels like it.

For what its worth i'm in the same camp, he's raw and would struggle massively with the step up to the championship but for someone thats scored 10 goals in this league will undoubtedly have suitors, in some form. Assuming we dont go up, if the shoe was on the other foot and we'd be linked with an unnamed striker that had scored 10 goals in this league we'd 100% be thinking "thats someone that is worth a serious look" and the cost is probably close to £1mn

Celtic is laughable though, actually laughable.

For me the benchmark is Kelman, he scored a stink load of goals in this league for a small team and went for, I think, £3.5mn so that is the starting number for Tolly. I agree that its however likely to be around £2.5mn sadly.

Why? We don't have to sell Tolaj this year.
We finally have a real opportunity to get a proper fee for one of our players. Anyone offering too little for him, we just tell them to do one.

I think some are running away with themselves, Oseni has done alright but he’s nowhere near the complete article yet.
The pressure we seem to put Bim and Owen on reminds me a bit about Jephcot and look what happened to him

I don't know, we (a League One promotion hopeful) picked him up as a St Mirren reserve and he's now hit double figures at League One level. So there's no doubt his stock has risen substantially, maybe to the point where a Championship club may take a punt on a project in the same way we did.

Celtic is probably a bit of a step up though, with the caveat that he/Pepple/Tolaj would almost certainly score goals for them facing League One-ish level opposition for a more dominant team than us. And they may be more interested in Irish players than most clubs.

oh I agree with you but thus far we've not, shall we say, nailed that negotation part when a bigger fish comes calling have we?

We have hope with Derek in the building though, maybe he'll just quietly unplug the phone lines and turn off the broadband for the summer....

Tolaj is absolute class and could successfully lead the line for most championship teams in my opinion

Pepple and Oseni have had good seasons but I think they thrive in a 2 up front system, I'm not sure either would be anywhere as successful in a lone striker role, and not that many teams use 2 up top.

So the small grain of hope I'm clinging on to is that teams won't come in for them as they won't suit their system
