Ok, seems like the Striker search has come to an end with yesterday's singing and Tom Cleverley says he'd still like to sign a left sided player although we are close to our budget limit with the new financial rules.
He admitted that Owen Dale is a player he likes but if that's not been done all summer is that likely?
Surely it will be a loan player until Baidoo is fit?

If Dale drops his wage depends or we up our offer a little bit he will probably sign. It’s not like he’s getting offers from other clubs, well there has been no reports of that

It shows the impact of the new regs.

Dale has possibly been told that he has to wait for all of the other transfer business to be done to see what is left .

Getting through on Monday and hopefully getting a decent draw helps in making a new signing because it probably sticks at least another unbudgeted £50k in the EFL pot.This is where the drop in sponsorship income really bites .

Amaechi should have the first few games, and hopefully he steps up. If that doesn't work, then hopefully Tegan Finn will get a run (when fit), but i would expect a loanee to come in before the transfer window closes.

Not really - including Issaka etc we have 23 outfield players- of which 3 are currently injured - with " the problem " being that Issaka etc haven't really shown they are quite ready , although it looks like Issaka is going to be given a chance this month.

Really hope we're still looking to bring someone in, contrary to suggestions we're done spending. Amaechi is not up to it and Finn isn't quite ready. There are potentially 15+ league games until Baidoo is back and if Curtis falls foul of the hamstring curse then we'll be absolutely stuffed.

I just have this feeling that 2 or 3 games in we’ll feel different to what we do now.

I would not be at all surprised if by 2 games in we’re already asking for Amaechi to be subbed off by half time, and we realise that actually the best player we have to play there is Evans, regardless of this talk of converting him to a no.9.

Additionally, having lost probably the best all-round striker in the league up front we’re left with arguably just Bim and Owen for 2 positions. Again I feel that by the time we’ve played 2 or 3 games we could well be saying that Owen isn’t yet ready to be that first team starter yet, and what’s more who’s to say Bim will definitely hit the same form he did at the end of last season because he hasn’t looked like it in preseason. Then what?

It’s almost certainly the front positions that need strengthening in my opinion, and I think a lot of us will be saying the same once the season actually starts properly and we see the team take shape in competitive games.
