Yup. Just goes to show how many teams have been in the top tier in their time eh?

I see Argyle played Brentford at Griffin Park on Christmas day and then at Home Park on boxing day. Two draws. 33,000 at Home Park. Imagine that - train to London - play- train back - play next day.

I remember reading a long time ago an account of such a pair of matches. It might possibly have been Jimmy Hill. Spoke about playing Argyle at home on Christmas Day and then playing cards and having a beer with the Argyle lads on the train to Plymouth for the Boxing Day match.

Many thanks for posting this league ladder, which I find fascinating.

Never knew Grimsby ever had such a successful spell in Division One.

Also, eleven grounds (or their modern successors, and mainly in the North) where I have seen Argyle play, haven't staged League football this season.

Such a pity that the modern game has become so money dominated.

I used to love getting those league ladders prior to the season started. Always kept mine up to date for about……3 weeks

My favourite useless fact is that Old Trafford's highest attendance is for an FA Cup semi-final involving Grimsby. They were briefly a very good team.
