Mumba

The one player who appears to of gone backwards under Miron, is Bali Mumba. Not only is he behind Puchatz for the left back role, he now appears to also be behind Daniel Ogbeta. His cameo role last night did not give any indication that he should be in front of either of them.
Bali is not an MM type player in my view. He is a flair player who tries to execute high risk moves to create space, when he succeeds it is spectacular but he often fails and loses the ball in dangerous areas. I hate to say it, because he is one of my favourites, but I think he will move on in the summer. I still think he has a bright championship future, but probably not with us.

Id like to see him in one of the positions behind the striker. He's not a lazy player, so I dont see why he couldn't play instead of Wright, who he is much more gifted than
Because Wright is proving incredibly effective under MM system because he does the simple things extremely well and rarely makes mistakes. He may not have composure in front of goal, he may not have trickery, but he is consistent. Bali has more natural talent but he is not as 100 per cent reliable, he wants to express himself, sometimes it comes off sometimes it doesn't. I was annoyed to see Cissoko go because he is so obviously talented but now I can fully see the MM system in action we can see why. I think Bali is in the same category.

There was a moment where he executed a brilliant turn to beat a Millwall player and I said to my lad, "That's classic Bali." Then he ran straight into another Millwall player and my lad said, "So is that".

I completely agree with a lot of what you've said, it's amazing to see the resurgance of Wright, who along with me, many had written off as Championship standard.

I think you're particualrly correct around his work rate and consistency, which are hugely important to the effectiveness of MM's system.

The bit where I'd disagree is comparing Cissoko with Mumba. Don't confuse flair with laziness or petulance, both of which I think Cissoko had in abundance, but Mumba doesn't. He has made mistakes, but he has also worked very hard for this club. As fans, we can see that as a full back in a line of 4 often leaves Bali exposed. But higher up the pitch I believe he can be far more effective. As MM's system solidifies itself, we will need to dominate teams who will learn to counter our system. This is where I think Bali's greater ability as a footballer will shine, and I think behind the striker is the spot for him.

Completely agree, his defensive decision making is still really poor. The simple ball punted up field or into touch doesn't appear to feature in his mindset at all.

I think there is still hope for Bali under MM. Not everyone is going to make an immediate impact in a new system. It is to the credit of Wright, Sorinola and the rest that they have grabbed their opportunity with both hands to push on in the starting line-up. Long may that continue, as it generates competition for places.

As others have said, Mumba is not a lazy player and is someone who seems desperate to play football. He'll be working hard, no doubt. It would be a shame if someone with undoubted ability could not secure a place in the side longer-term. Every hard working side needs flair to elevate it to something better.

I think there is a lot more to come from Bali under MM, heā€™s hard working and has the ability to really hurt opponents. Heā€™s still young and just needs to learn when to take a risk and when not to. Iā€™m sure MM and the rest of the coaching team will address that.

I also wouldnā€™t pay much attention to the fact Ogbeta played ahead of him today. I know he replaced Ogbeta in the end, but in general, it seems clear that MM prefers a left footer on the left and a right footer on the right so Mumba will be competing with Sorinola for his position. Sorinola has made that position his own at the moment but things can soon change with injuries and loss of form.

The problem Bali is going to be facing is MM wants a right footer on the right and left footer on the left. That makes him 3rd choice LWB behind Puchasz and Ogbeta. And he is about to become 3rd choice RWB behind Sorinola and Edwards. And Szucs showed last night he can cover RWB as well.
Iā€™m not sure he has a future as a WB so he may well have to adapt to playing further forward in this system. I donā€™t see an easy route back in for him now.
