I’d accept anything in the £5 mil region. We would be right in the mix again if even half that sum was reinvested back into the playing squad.

And this is the point.

It’s well and good saying that we’d love to keep him, he’s one of our best players, but League 1 is only going to be tougher next season and probably the season after, to remain competitive, we are going to need a monetary boost from somewhere. Half of 4-5 million would be enough to fund 4, 5 or even 6 strong signings.

Earning £104k (gross) is great for 15-20 years but it’s not as much people think. Cooper strikes me as an intelligent bloke so I’m sure he will have made some investments to support him in retirement.

Oh yea? :ROFLMAO:

Really? I know of a handful of people who probably earn that kind of amount but I don’t have any friends who earn anything remotely of that order. £50k is pretty good going in my sphere of life. What jobs can someone do in Plymouth to earn that kind of money?
I would have thought a Doctor could ...

£2k a week is a lot of money at any age, I'm sure he finds it hard to spend each week, I made a fifth of what he makes a week and thought that wasn't bad but I guess whether you're doing my job or his hobby that you'll want more if you can get it.

I hope he stays - i really do, but i cant see it, someone will take a chance even if we demanded £5 million.
So, most teams have returned to their clubs for pre-season and according to a very recent interview with Dewsnip, we haven’t had any bids/interest and yet you still think he’s going to go somewhere.

All these teams that obviously want to buy him but don’t know it yet really need to start pulling their fingers out.

If he were to leave for £xxx amount, what do you think the club will do with the funds?

Reinvest it into the squad over the next 10 years?
Invest it into facilities and/or the ground?
Tuck it away for a time where we could use it post inflation/brexit?

SOME medical ones maybe although most ordinary GPs wouldn't hit that level I think.
In Plymouth, even in League 1, the footballers must easily be amongst the highest paid employees in the city.
(of course if you actually want to make money you really need to be self-employed and run a business)

I think it would be very fitting if most of it were used on a training ground/academy facility.

'IF' it was £10m though, I think at least 500k for the first team would be reasonable. Remember the big money is usually paid in installments, we wouldn't just suddenly have the whole amount to spend.

Well, I don't like to admit this, but, before I retired-------!(and there are plenty of solicitors in Plymouth.)

So you think the summer transfer window is nearly at an end - maybe you should write into Sky and teal them to knock their last minute 24 hour transfer window show on the head this year its not needed as everyone is nearly done!!

I reckon most teams have barely started their recruitment, there is also a thing called a chain reaction, every scout worthy of the name will have Coopers name on their sheet, it maybe many currently dont need a new No1 or back up keeper, but as we've seen time and time again, one moves and they need replacing.

By the way i hope you are right and we are left to enjoy him for another season, but the cold hard reality is that 23 year olds that excel in League One are sort after by bigger fish sooner rather than later.

As an Electrical & Electronic Engineer specialising in diagnostic software, and later safety engineering, in a 40+ year career I never paid higher rate tax. £40,000 was way beyond me and my colleagues, £100,000 plus was beyond wildest dream territory.

Offer him say 5k a week for two years, that might do the trick
